AOK Outdoor Cabinets - Hands On

First Image
Part 1 of this blog focussed on some general details about the American Outdoor Kitchen cabinets that I bought for use in my grill gazebo to use with my Big Green Eggs. It covers the sizes and types of cabinets available, the construction and materials used and some ballpark pricing information. AOK Outdoor Cabinets - Big Picture

First Image
The two topics I get asked about the most via the Contact Form for this site both have to do with the grill gazebo I designed and had built in September of 2012. People have questions about the grill gazebo itself or the outdoor cabinets within it that are holding my two Big Green Eggs. There has been enough interest in the cabinets that I thought I might write a blog entry about them that answers some of the typical questions I am asked. If I had to do it over again, I would make the exact same decision and buy the same two Large Eggs without hesitation. If that isn't enough to convince you: A third Large Egg is on my radar screen. But this blog will discuss the things I have learned good and bad in my two years of ownership. Read More...

Cracked Egg

First Image
I recently had to replace the bottom of my newer Large Big Green Egg. I have written blog items in the past where I say don’t just pick a dealer based on price. Pick your dealer based on their knowledge, what they stock in the stores, the knowledge of their sales associates and how they treat people after the sale. This point was driven home recently when my Large Big Green Egg suffered a crack under the draft door and I had to get a replacement base from my dealer. This blog will discuss the process of getting a replacement base, installing it and some improvements that have been made to the base. Read More...
