This recipe came from Williams-Sonoma On the Grill and was the happy ending to my Mother’s Day 2011 meal. Some Granny Smith apples were cored & cut into wedges. These were tossed in a sauce that had been warmed on the grill. then the apples were taken out to the grill, where they were grilled on 3 sides over 10 minutes. The brown sugar in the sauce helped the apples brown up nicely during grilling. The apples were served with some ice cream on the side while they were hot off the grill. The hot, soft and warm apples and the cold ice cream are one of those matches made in heaven. The Granny Smith apples had lost some of their tartness after being tossed in the sauce with brown sugar, but you still had this sweet/tart thing going on which was interesting.
