  Info
I’ve been wanting to try desserts on the grill for a long time now. This first attempt came from MASTERING THE GRILL. It consisted of apple slices dips in a sweet sauce and grilled for less than 2 minutes. The sauce was pure maple syrup, vanilla extract and cinnamon and nutmeg. In keeping with my new “Use fresh ingredients” mantra (Get Fresh), I used freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg. After dipping the apples briefly in the sauce, it was off to the grill. These go fast I had barely gotten the last slice on the grill and it was time to flip them and baste with some more sauce. Speaking of going quickly they went quickly when I served them too. The high heat had caramelized the plant sugars in the apple and made them very sweet and the sauce was a perfect compliment to the apples. I suspect I will soon be needing to add a dessert category to the site.
