Info
A choice from the midwest by way of the Great American Hot Dog Book. These Greek influenced dogs use Cincinnati Chile which is made with boiled beef and is known for the use of cloves, allspice & unsweetened chocolate. It is a totally different animal than a Texas chili. It is somewhat close to the meats sauce used on N.Y. SYSTEM HOT WIENERS. The dogs get topped with yellow mustard, the Cincinnati Chili, diced onions and grated cheddar cheese. The Cincinnati Chili is also popular used over spaghetti served 3-Way, 4-Way or 5-Way. # way is spaghetti, Cincinnati Chili & grated cheddar cheese. 4-Way adds diced onions, while 5-Way adds kidney or chili beans. The recipe made a huge batch of the chili and I was going to cut it in half. I decided I would use it for spaghetti and I am very glad I went that route. Both the Coney Dogs and the spaghetti were excellent.
