Info
This somewhat unusual pizza is what happens when you cross a traditional cheese pizza with a bacon and egg breakfast. It is from the local TV show The Phantom Gourmet. When I saw it I couldn’t wait to make it, but not in the oven, on the grill. It was a cold windy day when I made it, and I knew I was going to be dealing with heat loss issues for the last phase where I was going to have to add the bacon and eggs onto the pizza while it was on the grill. It too twice as long as I expected to cook the eggs due to the heat loss. Fortunately I’d sprayed the bottom of the pizza with plenty of EVOO so it got crispy, but didn’t burn. The first bite threw me for a loop because the combination of egg and sauce didn’t taste as I had expected. By the time I was half-way through the first slice I was liking it very much. This pizza is a fun change of pace that isn’t just for breakfast.
