Info
I always make a dinner on the afternoon of New Years Eve. I do this so that my guests can be home and off the roads for New Years Eve if they so choose. This year I was making DOUBLE SMOKED HAM WITH APRICOT GLAZE from Ray Lampe aka Dr BBQ's SLOW FIRE cookbook. What better to go with smoked ham than smoked baked beans. I looked in the same cookbook and found this recipe for baked beans which has won prizes in BBQ competitions. It is a simple doctored beans recipe where you add ingredients to canned baked beans to make a good thing even better. The only thing about this that wasn't "simple" was the homemade BBQ sauce recipe. It had just a "few" ingredients as you will see. The beans were heated for 3 hours at 235 with smoke from hickory chips. The results were well worth it. Everyone loved the bold smokey flavor of these beans.
