I learned about these wonderful hotdogs in trips to Rhode Island to visit my relatives. Despite the New York in the name, these dogs are only found in Rhode Island. I make a special trip down to Rhode Island just to buy the wieners from the distributer used by the restaurants that serve these special dogs. The grilled wieners are topped with mustard, a spicy meat sauce similar to, but different than chili, onions and a sprinkling of celery salt. These wieners are unlike any hotdog you've had. Until you actually try one you have no idea how great they are.

  BEST HOT DOG 2:

These dogs are totally different than anything we typically get around here. This recipe included a sub-recipe for a homemade spicy yellow beer mustard to be used on the dogs. Besides the homemade mustard, the dogs are topped with relish, mini dill pickles, diced onion and tomato, plus spicy banana peppers. They are great change of pace from the hot dogs typical around this area.

The first time I made this recipe it was a total disaster because I used a hot dog with the casing. As a result these dogs had about as much flavor as a boiled hotdog. When I made them again using a skinless hotdog, I could see why people raved about them and why they're very popular and certain parts the country.

  Motivation:

People are always asking me what my favorite recipes are. This section had it's origins in a seven part BLOG entry I wrote in 2011 called A Few of My Favorite Things. I have made many great dishes since then and also started making other types of foods such as Stir Fries. This section needed to be updated and expanded to stay current or be dropped. I chose the later and you have the results of my reworking the section in the Fall of 2014
  Hot Dogs Info:
The HOT DOGS section of the site contains hot dogs from round the country. For this section I am going to pick my three favorites.
