BGE Folding Grill Extender adds a second cooking level to the Egg. The grid is made of chrome plated steel. The legs fold up flat for compact storage.
-
The BGE Plate Setter is a ceramic disk with 3 legs. You install it legs up for indirect cooks such as low and slow smoking. You install it legs down for indirect cooks such as baking.
-
This is the setup for a low & slow smoke. Plate setter legs up, a foil drip pan on the base of the plate setter, the stoke grill grid on the legs of the plate setter.
-
Here the BGE Folding Grid Extender has been added to create a second tier of grill grid. A brisket is on the main grid & some baked beans are on the upper shelf.
-
The BGE Cast Iron Cooking Grid gives you a great sear. The cast iron absorbs & retains the heat giving you great grill marks. The bars have angled side and this gives you wide & narrow grill bar widths.
-
Here the Plate Setter is installed legs down for baking a fritatta in a Pyrex bowl. The bowl is set on 1/2” copper plumbing T shims.
-
BGE Grill Cleaner has a long handle to help keep your hands out of the heat. There is a handle on top of the cleaning head for getting good leverage…
-
…and there is a thumb support on the other handle to give your other hand good leverage. There is also a flat scraper which also has circular notches for cleaning the round bars of the stock grill grid.
-
This is a BGE branded version of the Billy Bar, a well known grid cleaner. It has a long handle to keep your hands cool. The V-shaped head cleans all sides of the grill grids depending on the angle used.
-
The BGE Ash Tool when held vertically can be tilted & the end hook slipped in between the grids and used as a grid lifter for light (read non-cast-iron) grill grids. It is less secure than the grid lifter.
-
The BGE Grid Lifter is used to securely lift any of the BGE grill grids whether they are heavy or light. unlike the Ash Tool which picks up the grill grid so it is hanging, the grid lifter clamps the rill grid.
-
The first step is to place the grid lifter close to the middle of the grill grid. The vertically oriented bar that serves as the lower clamp slips between two of the grill grids.
-
The handle at the top is a squeeze handle which lowers the lower clamp. This allows the lower clamp to be pushed down low enough to clear the grid bars. You are able to slide the Grid Lifter to the center.
-
Once the Grid Lifter has been pushed close to the center, the Grid Lifter is rotated 90 degrees. This rotates the lower clamp so it supports several grid bars. Releasing the handle closes the spring clamp.
-
The BGE Half Moon Cast Iron Grill Griddles allow you to griddle grill on the BGE. It has two sides one smooth, one with raised ridges. There is a deceased grease trough around the curved edge.
-
This is the ridged side of the grill griddle. The grilling surface is sloped towards the drain trough. This surface is good for making bacon or other items you don’t want in full direct contact with the grill surface.
-
This is the smooth side of the grill griddle. The grilling surface is sloped towards the drain trough. This surface is good for making eggs, toasting buns, grilling small items the would slip through a grill grid.
-
I originally purchased two of these so I could use both the smooth surface & the ridged surface simultaneously. Recently I discovered a new use as a panini press when installed with the ridges inward.
-
The Half Moon Raised Grid with Drip Pan is intended to allow you to grill directly on one side of the Egg & Indirectly on the other. It has a metal drip pan to catch drippings & prevent flare-ups.
-
Here the drip pan is installed. When I use it for a real cook, I wrap the pan in foil for easier clean up.
-
Here it is installed on the Egg to allow me to cook the meat for my kebabs on high direct heat & the veggies on medium high indirect.
-
A thick cowboy steak is the perfect use for the Half Moon Raised Grid. You do a quick sear over direct heat…
-
…after the sear is complete, the steak is moved to the raised indirect shelf. I used aluminum foil to make cleanup of the metal pan easier.
-
This is the Large Adjustable Rig (AR) made by the Ceramic Grill Store. It is a modular unit intended to give you more grilling space on your Egg or allow you to grill higher up inside the domed lid.
-
The next few pictures will show you some of the set ups possible. This first picture shows the Oval Pizza Stone instal on 2 shelving crossbars. The heights possible are 1 1/2”, 3” 04 4 1/2” above the Fire Ring.
-
Here the pizza stone is at 1 1/2” on crossbars, an Oval Sliding s/s grid on the Slide Guide at the 3” level. Another piece called the Rig Extender is installed with the 16” Sliding D-Grid at the 7 1/2” level.
-
Here is the setup I used to indirectly grill my Thanksgiving turkey: AR with the Oval Pizza Stone at the 3” level, the Sliding Oval Grid at the 4 1/2” level with a cast iron grill pan & s/s V-rack.
-
Here is a setup for baking high in the dome: AR with the Oval Pizza Stone at the 1 1/2” level, Rig Extender with the 16” Sliding D-Grid at the 7 1/2” level. This gets the food high in the dome.
-
Here is a setup for baking cookies on two shelves: AR with the Oval Pizza Stone at the 3” level, the Sliding Oval Grid at the 4 1/2” level, Rig Extender with the 16” Sliding D-Grid at the 7 1/2” level.
-
Ceramic Grill Store makes a companion drip pan for the adjustable rig. It is good quality and reasonably heavy duty.
-
Here I am setting up to do a roast indirect. I have the Pizza Stone at Level 1.5, a shelf to hold the drip pan and grate temperature probe at Level 3 and the shelf for my roast at Level 6.
-
One of the advantages of the AR is when it comes time for mopping or turning you can remove the entire setup, food and all from the grill and get the lid closed fast. When done it goes back on in one piece.
-
Here is the Two Tier Swing Adjustable Swing Rack System from Ceramic Grill Works, which gives you an 18” lower grill grate and an adjustable height 15” swing away grill grate above.
-
The post is available in several lengths to allow you to create various height setups. The 15” upper grid swings away and allows you easy access to the items on the lower grate.
-
The addition of the BGE Plate Setter Legs up and two BGE 13” diameter pizza stones allows you to make 2 pizzas at once. The lower pizza cooks up a little faster, but other than that it works great.
-
Here are two pizzas ready to come off. I swapped the positions of the pizzas midway through to even out the temperature difference of the two levels.
-
A 13” diameter BGE Pizza Stone. It is made from a similar ceramic material to the BGE itself. It can with stand the high temperature that the BGE can reach vs. a conventional oven.
-
Here are some pieces of Naan bread being cooked at a temperature of 700 degrees. My indoor stone started showing signs of stress at 600 degrees or so, making 2 BGE stones a no-brainer.
