I list the Big Green Egg Cookbook here because I feel it is an essential tool to learning how to use the Big Green Egg. In addition to recipes to help you learn the Egg it describes proper setup of the Egg.
-
The BGE Wire Basket has a half moon shape required for use on the BGE. It is used for grilling small pieces like veggies. Having the the food all in one basket allows you to flip the food in one turn.
-
It has a removable handle for getting it on & off the grill. This way the handle doesn’t heat up and you can actually use two of these baskets at once because there are no handles to interfere with each other
-
Here is the Wire Basket in use grilling up some new potatoes.
-
Weber Large Stainless Steel Fish Basket. This basket is intended for use on a Weber Kettle grill which is similarly sized to a Large Big Green Egg. I like the design and size of this better than the BGE version.
-
This is the BGE Stir Fry & Paella Pan.
-
BGE Rectangular Perforated Cooking Grid measures 7” x 11” (18x28 cm) and is perforated to let the smoke reach the food. It is intended for grilling small items like mushroom, clams, shrimp etc.
-
BGE 11” (28 cm) diameter Perforated Grill Wok. This porcelain coated piece is intended for grilling small pieces of food. The perforations allow smoke to reach the food.
-
BGE 7” (18 cm) Ceramic Pizza Stone. This is an older item that I picked up as a close out. You preheat the stone with the crust in it & then add the fillings & continue grilling. They now have a bigger version for sale.
-
The BGE 14” (36 cm) Deep Dish Pizza Baking Stone replaced the 7” pizza stone in 2012. You use it the same as the 7” (18 cm) stone as shown below…
-
…the stone with the pizza dough in it is pre-baked for 10 minutes…
-
…then the pizza is returned to the Kitchen and the toppings are added in layers…
-
…the pizza is returned to the Egg for final baking with the toppings.
-
BGE 14” (36 cm) Baking Stone. It is made of the same ceramic as the BGE.
-
BGE Pizza Peel with stainless steel peel….
-
…& collapsable wooden handle.
-
BGE Rockin’ Pizza Cutter makes quick work of cutting up pizza.
-
BGE 5 quart (4.7 L) Dutch Oven. This is a traditional outdoor type dutch oven. Made of cast iron, it sports wire d-handles for hanging over a fire & a lipped lid which can hold charcoal on the lid as well
-
The BGE Dutch oven can be used for making stews on the Egg, which you can enhance with some wood smoke flavor.
-
You can also prepare a braised dish and add add wood smoke.
-
A cast iron skillet can be used to prepare some interesting dishes. Here I am preparing something called Potatoes Galette
-
This time the cast iron skillet is being used to prepared a pie-sized gingerbread cookie.
-
The BGE Calzone Presses come in two sizes. for personal & family sized calzones.
-
The Family Size Calzone Press is shown here in the open position…
-
…and here in a partially folded position.
-
The bottom of the press is used to cut out the proper sized dough round.
-
The dough round is placed inside the press & the toppings are added.
-
The press is folded over to form the panini
-
The BGE Stuff-A-Burger-Press for making burgers simile to a Juicy Lucy.
-
The ground beef is placed inside the burger press…
-
… the top lid is inverted & is used to make an indentation in the patty to receive the fillings.
-
I was able to use a circular cooking cutter to cut the meats & cheese for the fillings to the perfect size to fit the well created in the patty
-
The other half of the meat is pressed back into place using the lid.
-
The stuffed burger out on the grill
-
The Wok Spider from Ceramic Grillworks is intended to hold a wok on the Big Green Egg.
-
In this picture you can see where the name spider came from.
-
The Spider on the BGE. The wok fits into the ring in the center.
-
One of my first stir fries. You can tell because the wok still has a golden color to it as opposed to the dark black hue it has achieved now that it is seasoned.
-
BGE Premium Silicon Basting Brush is made for applying mops and sauces to the food being grilled. The removable silicon head is dishwasher safe & can withstand up to 550 degrees (288 C)
-
I have shown mesh grill pans in the Grill Baskets, Pans & Trays section. To use one on the BGE you will need to buy one with a detachable handle.
